BEAUMONT, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's golf closed out its final official competition before the postseason this past weekend, finishing fifth at +98 at SCIAC No. 2, hosted by Redlands at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon.
The Regals showed clear improvement across the two-day event, trimming 18 strokes off their team score from round one to round two. After opening with a +58, Cal Lu responded with a much sharper +40 on day two to cap the tournament on a high note.
Victoria Ruiz led the way for the Regals with a consistent performance, finishing tied for sixth overall at +20. She carded rounds of 82 on both days, providing a steady presence atop the lineup.
Caroline Morris delivered one of the biggest turnarounds of the weekend, bouncing back from a 92 in the opening round to fire a team-best 79 on day two. Her nine-stroke improvement highlighted the Regals' overall surge in the final round as she finished tied for 20th with teammate
Brooke Alderson at +27.
Anna Poulin also made strides on the second day, shaving seven strokes off her first-round score to post an 83 and finish tied for 24th at +29.
Maya Dela Rama contributed a pair of solid rounds as well, improving by six strokes on day two with an 84 to finish tied for 27th overall at +30.
Competing as individuals,
Kaylie Hesse matched her two-round total with consistent scores of 87-87 to finish at +30, while
Lily Stern placed 42nd at +45.
With SCIAC No. 2 complete, the Regals now turn their attention to the SCIAC Championships, set for April 23-25 at Santa Anita Golf Course in Arcadia. Prior to that, Cal Lutheran will compete in an exhibition tri-match at the same course on April 12 against Occidental and Chapman, offering a preview of the conference championship venue.
