PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's golf showed steady improvement across the two-day UC Santa Cruz Invitational, climbing the leaderboard to finish tied for fourth place at +45 alongside George Fox at the Pacific Grove Golf Links.
The Regals opened the tournament with a 313 (+25) on day one before shaving five strokes off their score in the final round, carding a 308 (+20) to cap the weekend.
Caroline Morris paced CLU with a strong and consistent showing, finishing in a five-way tie for sixth place at +7. Morris opened with a 75 and followed with a 76, holding steady across both rounds to secure her fourth straight top-10 finish this season.
Brooke Alderson also delivered a solid performance, tying for 11th at +8. After an impressive opening-round 73 (+1), she finished with a 79 to remain among the top performers in the field.
Anna Poulin bounced back in a big way on day two, improving by 10 strokes with a 74 (+2) after an opening-round 84, finishing tied for 26th overall at +14.
Maya Dela Rama rounded out the Regals' scoring lineup, placing 41st at +18, while Tori Ruiz finished 50th at +23.
Kaylie Hesse competed as an individual and finished tied for 45th at +21.
Cal Lutheran will look to carry its momentum into its next competition at SCIAC No. 2, set for April 3-4 at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon in Beaumont, California, hosted by Redlands.
