VENTURA, Calif. – The Cal Lutheran women's golf team opened conference play on its home course this weekend, finishing fourth at SCIAC No. 1 at Olivas Links.
Hosting the first of two conference stops leading up to the championships, the Regals posted team rounds of 308 and 322 to finish at +57 overall. CLU placed behind No. 4 Pomona-Pitzer (+21), No. 13 Redlands (+32) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (+32), while finishing ahead of Occidental (+70), La Verne (+81) and Chapman (+94).
Caroline Morris led the way for the Purple & Gold, tying for seventh overall at +8. She followed an opening-round 77 with a steady 75 on Sunday, highlighted by a strong closing stretch that kept her inside the top 10 on the leaderboard.
Maya Dela Rama finished 21st at +13 after rounds of 79 and 78, trimming a stroke off her score in the final round.
Brooke Alderson placed in a tie for 22nd at +15, opening with a 74 before adding an 85 on day two.
Anna Poulin carded rounds of 81 and 84 to finish tied for 28th at +21, while
Kaylie Hesse rounded out the scoring five at +24.
Competing as individuals, Tori Ruiz delivered one of the top performances of the weekend, tying for 13th at +9 after an opening-round 73.
Lily Stern also competed individually for Cal Lutheran, finishing at +29.
With the first SCIAC event in the books, the Regals now shift their focus to the next stretch of the spring season. Cal Lutheran returns to competition March 9-10 at the FST Pinecrest Invitational in Longview, Texas.
