SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Cal Lutheran men's and women's cross country continued its season Saturday at The Master's Invitational, with both squads turning in strong performances despite coming off a demanding month of training. The Regals placed 15th and the Kingsmen finished 18th, while the teams combined for 11 personal bests and two course bests.
"I am proud of the performance put forth by the Kingsmen and Regals," said Head Coach
Brett Halvaks. "We have been in a hard block of training this last month and to have many strong performances on tired legs was exciting."
The Regals led the way with a 15th-place finish, scoring 376 points among 27 teams.
Alexis Gonzalez paced Cal Lutheran for the third consecutive meet, placing 57th in 23:58.8.
Ellie Sinclair followed in 69th at 24:22.9, while
Sophie Wight finished 86th in 24:45.1.
Sloan Pullen crossed in 25:06.9 for 105th, followed by
Angelina Diaz in 117th at 25:36.1 and
Nico Wilson in 120th at 25:42.8.
Alison Orwin (27:23.1),
Nataly Tello (27:23.3),
Jackie Prieto (28:00.7) and
Evan Edwards (29:03.6) rounded out the Cal Lutheran lineup in the 189-runner field.
The Regals' combined team time was the fastest in program history on The Master's course, marking another standout performance for a group that has continued to build throughout the season.
The Kingsmen finished 18th with 519 points, led by
Henry Gonzalez in 119th at 27:33.3.
Julian Guignard followed in 125th at 27:46.1, while
Daniel Velasquez finished 152nd in 28:35.5.
Jacob Witt and
Austin Porter rounded out the scoring five in 160th (28:50.2) and 167th (29:05.4), respectively.
Sigurd Leikanger (29:50.4),
Diego Romero (30:57.1),
Vincent May (32:12.9) and
Armando Cuevas Guzman (33:26.0) also competed for the Kingsmen in the 219-runner field.
Cal Lutheran's 11 personal bests and two course bests capped a productive day for the Kingsmen and Regals as they head into the final stretch of the regular season.
