Cal Lutheran women's lacrosse has hired a recently graduated player to its coaching staff for the upcoming fall season. Former starting defender Kaitlyn Gill will join the program as an assistant coach.

Gill achieved CSC Academic All-District honors this past spring season after starting in all 16 games she appeared in, the most successful season in Regals lacrosse history.

On the hiring, Head Coach MacEllen McDonough said, "Kaitlyn has always been a natural leader during her time with Cal Lutheran. Her knowledge and passion for the game will be an excellent addition to our coaching staff. I'm very grateful and excited for the opportunity to work together!"

Gill added, "I'm incredibly honored to step into the role of assistant coach for the team. As a former player, it's always been my hope to see this program continue to grow and thrive beyond my time on the field. To now have the opportunity to contribute to that growth from the sidelines as a coach is exciting! I'm proud to be part of the program and cannot wait to get the season started."

Cal Lutheran is coming off its winningest season in the young program's history after notching seven wins including three SCIAC wins.
