CLAREMONT, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's lacrosse faced a tough challenge to open their 2026 season, falling on the road 26-3 to the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas on Wednesday evening.
The Regals hung with the Athenas early, trailing 5-2 early before CMS eventually pulled away. Cal Lu added another goal later in the first quarter, but that would conclude their scoring on the night.
Senior
Josie Oparanaku, who earned All-SCIAC honors last season, notched a pair of goals for the Regals while junior
Madison Soforenko grabbed the third. Goalie
Bella Bravo tallied herself nine saves and picked up three ground balls.
The Regals will look to get in the win column as they travel to Eagle Rock to take on Occidental at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21.
