COSTA MESA, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's golf continued the SCIAC Championships on Monday morning at the par-71 Mesa Linda course at Costa Mesa Country Club. The Regals shot +9 as a team, with
Maya Dela Rama leading the group with a round of -1.
After a +12 opening round, the Regals entered round two tied for fourth and twelve strokes back of the lead.
Dela Rama played high-quality golf on Monday behind 13 pars and three birdies, two of which came in the back-nine. Her 33 in the back-nine gave way to a score of -1 on the day, the third-best individual score of the round. She currently sits tied for eighth at +4 through 36 holes and five strokes back from the leader.
Ashley Zook carried her stellar performance from the opening round into round two, birdying holes 1 and 6 en route to a +1 scorecard. It is the second time she has birdied the par-3 hole 6 in as many days. She is now tied for fourth at +1 after two rounds and just two strokes behind the leader.
Anna Poulin collected two birdies, including one to finish her round on hole 18 with a score of +4. Poulin is tied for eighteenth at +9 through 36 holes. Carolina Morris birdied holes 5 and 10, contributing to a final score of +5. Morris has birdied the par-5 hole 5 each of the two rounds and is now tied with Poulin at +9.
Brooke Alderson dropped in a couple of birdies on holes 5 and 17, marking the second time she has birdied the par-3 hole 17 in as many rounds. She ended at +8 on the day and is placed just outside the top-20 at +8 through 36 holes.
The Regals put forth the third-lowest team score in round two, gaining some strokes on Redlands and separating from Occidental. Cal Lutheran is just two strokes back from Redlands, who currently sits in third.
The SCIAC Championships will resume for the final round tomorrow morning at 7:00am. The first Regal is scheduled to tee off at 7:45am.
