In just her second week of collegiate basketball freshman Kaitlyn Brongiel earned the recognition of SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week (AOW). The center from Livermore has played a key role off the bench in kickstarting a 4-0 start to the 2025-26 campaign for Cal Lutheran.

In a 54-point blowout of Stanton on Tuesday, Brongiel played only eight minutes but stuffed the stat sheet with eight points (3/3 FG, 2/2 FT), seven rebounds, three assists, three blocks, and a steal.

On Saturday evening, she played a career-high 21 minutes in a 70-67 win against a tough Texas Lutheran squad that received votes in the preseason top 25. Due to foul trouble within the starting lineup, Brongiel was leaned upon heavily by the coaching staff and delivered with game highs of 15 rebounds and five blocks to go with four points and a steal.

Brongiel and the Regals will look to continue their hot start when they travel to Riverside to face La Sierra on Wednesday evening.
