Janna Holley earned SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week (AOW) honors in the opening week of the season for her defensive dominance in Cal Lutheran's two blowout victories during their trip to Massachusetts.
On Saturday, the Regals began their season against Hartford, and Holley tallied a career-high eight steals as Cal Lutheran won 77-51. The Regals forced 24 turnovers and scored 31 points off those giveaways.
In Sunday's matchup against Albertus Magnus, the senior point guard only played in 20 minutes with Cal Lutheran claiming a 41-point victory. Still, she managed four more steals as the Regals again scored 31 points off turnovers.
Not only did she wreck havoc on the defensive end, but Holley also averaged 13.5 points and 3.0 assists in her efforts.
Holley and the Regals return home to face Stanton this afternoon at 1pm.
