THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's basketball (3-0, 0-0 SCIAC) took care of business, defeating Stanton (0-3, 0-0 CPC) on Tuesday afternoon, 104-50.
The win marked the first time the Regals have eclipsed the 100-point mark since Feb. 7, 2024.
It was pure Regals dominance from the beginning as they hopped out to a 19-5 lead.
A pair of layups inside 40 seconds left from
Deanna Broughton and
Maddi Lee sent the game to the second quarter with a 28-17 Cal Lutheran lead.
The Regals went nuclear in the second quarter, outscoring the Elks 32-8, 17 of which came off turnovers, to go into the break up 60-25.
Cal Lutheran came out of the break with pure dominance, going on a 19-3 run to start the third quarter.
Cal Lutheran ended the quarter up 94-36, a ridiculous 58-point lead.
While the Regals were outscored 14-10 in the fourth quarter following some late substitutions, they were still able to cap off a resounding 44-point victory, their second-straight win of 40+ points.
Sophomore
Sydney Heyn led the team with an efficient 12 points (4/6 FG, 2/3 3FG, 2/2 FT), a new career high, to go with four rebounds and two assists.
The Regals were unstoppable from the field, shooting 49.4%, the second-highest field-goal percentage by a SCIAC squad so far this season. 16 Regals scored a basket in the win.
Cal Lutheran is back in action on Saturday, Nov. 15 as it looks to keep an undefeated season alive at home against Texas Lutheran.
