Ballard Records Second-Straight Double-Double As Regals Stay Undefeated

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's basketball (5-0, 0-0 SCIAC) remained undefeated, routing La Sierra (1-2, 0-0 GSAC) 89-67 on the road on Wednesday evening.

The Regals got the scoring started, jumping out to a 7-0 lead and eventually leading 17-5 about halfway through the quarter. A pair of Kaiya Mack free throws along with field goals from three different Regals sent the game to the second with the Regals in command up 30-15.

The Regals dominated under the hoop in the second quarter, grabbing 7 defensive boards to La Sierra's 3.

Seven different Regals scored in the second, outsourcing La Sierra 22-16 and sending the game to halftime up 51-31, their largest lead of the night to that point.

The second half was more of the same for Cal Lutheran, as the Regals shot 59% (10/17) from the field in the third quarter en route to a fifth straight win.

The contest marked junior Alline Ballard's fourth time in the Regals' five games that she scored double-digit points, shooting 48% (19/40) from the field in that span.

The Regals' 5-0 start is their first since the 2000-01 season, and the win marked the team's fourth of at least 20 points this season.

Cal Lutheran, not a team that has relied much on shots beyond the arc, had it working against La Sierra, setting a new season-high cashing 40% (10-25) of its shots.

The Regals are back in action as they take on UC Riverside in an exhibition game on Saturday, Nov. 29 before beginning SCIAC play on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
