BREA, Calif. — The Cal Lutheran men's and women's cross country teams competed in their first meet of the season at the Mark Covert Classic on Saturday morning. The Kingsmen finished fourteenth with 434 points and the Regals were thirteenth with 381.

Freshman
Adrian Rodriguez was the first Kingsman to finish in his 8k debut. He came in 121st place with a time of 27 minutes and 39.6 seconds, putting him in 8th all time for the course in CLU history. Senior
Logan Bury was next and placed 125th with a 30+ PR of 27:51.9 80. Bury's performance ranks 10th all time for the course.
Also competing for the Kingsmen were
Sebastian Sawyer (146th, 28:57.8),
Nicholas Moore (159th, 29:49.5),
George Gaitanis (170th, 31:23.8),
Diego Romero (175th, 34:00.7), and
Vincent May (176th, 35:45.2).
On the women's side, the Regals ran a team time record for the 5k course and had four course all time marks in the CLU top ten.
Junior
Summer Gelman was the first Regal to cross the finish line, clocking a time of 19:35.2 and placing 69th. Following Gelman was freshman
Nataly Tello, who placed 128th with 20:55.7. These times land Gelman at 1st in the all time course record and Tello in 6th.
Alison Orwin (139th, 21:25.8),
Elliette Sinclair (158th, 22:22.1), Cordelia Hautekeete (162nd, 22:42.2),
Angelina Diaz (166th, 23:05.7), and
Evan Edwards (171st, 24:28.9) also competed for the Regals.
Next for Cal Lutheran is the Biola Invite in Fullerton, California. The race is set for September 13th, with the men taking off at 8:45 AM and the women at 9:30 AM.
