THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - The Cal Lutheran men's soccer team returned to the win column with a big 5-0 victory over Caltech in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action on Wednesday night at Rolland Stadium.

The Kingsmen were shooting early and often in the game and after a handful of incredible saves by the Caltech keeper, CLU was finally able to break through. First-year Kingsmen Petter Knoph got the scoring started in the 25th minute after Andres Mendoza sent a cross into the box that the Oslo, Norway native sent into the back of the net.

In the 38th minute, Casey Kurtenbach found himself with the ball inside the box and turned and fired a shot into the lower left corner to put the Violet and Gold ahead 2-0.

With a few minutes to go before halftime, Knoph raced down the middle of the field and dished a ball to Gabe Naudin who lasered a goal into the top right corner.

Before it was all said and done, the Kingsmen tacked on two more goals just 48 seconds apart in the second half from Henry Breheny and Nico Sabbattella. Elmer Molina and Alon Arnaldes came through with assists on the plays.

All in all, 28 Kingsmen saw action on the pitch against the Beavers. CLU dominated Caltech on the shot count 39-5 and held a 10-2 advantage on corner kicks. Brandon Kearney tallied a game-high five shots along with Sabbattella, while Knoph, Kurtenbach, Naudin, Breheny, Mendoza, Max Sharpe, Chris Ortiz, Cristian Guzman and Daniel Aguilar all finished with multiple shot attempts. 16 Kingsmen recorded a shot in the game.
