REDLANDS, Calif. - The longest road trip of the season for the Cal Lutheran women's water polo team got a little bit longer this afternoon as the Regals fell, 9-7, to Redlands in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) contest.

The Regals fell behind in the first period, but went into halftime tied at 4-4. After the teams exchanged a pair of goals in the third quarter, the Bulldogs scored the first three times of the final frame, which was too much for CLU to make up. Both Maggie Kurzeka and Kristi McGee scored twice while the other three scores came from Maddie Campbell, Nicole Roed and Kayla Wagenhofer. Amanda Jones handed out a pair of assists and Roed drew a team-leading three ejections while Jones notched a pair. Defensively, Mardell Ramirez led the way with three steals and both Cindy Delic and Nicole Guerriero each recorded a field block while CLU goalkeeper Gina Merry finished with nine saves.
Notables: CLU will head back to Redlands for the SCIAC Championships on April 22-24. Between now and then the Regals will play three more league games.
Up Next: Cal Lutheran (10-15, 2-3 SCIAC) is back at the Samuelson Aquatics Center on Saturday, April 9 for an 11:00 a.m. first sprint against Occidental. The Regals will honor a senior class of seven prior to the game.
