IRVINE, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's water polo earned national recognition from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC), as four Regals were named to the 2026 All-America Teams following standout seasons in the pool.
Freshman utility
Aleaha Gonzalez headlined the group with First Team All-America honors, while graduate goalkeeper
Izzy de Souza and senior attacker
Lauren Lohmeier were both selected to the Second Team. Junior center forward
Olivia Hurley rounded out the honorees with Honorable Mention recognition.
Gonzalez continued her remarkable debut campaign by earning First Team All-America distinction after also being named the 2026 SCIAC Newcomer of the Year and a First Team All-SCIAC selection. The first-year from Commerce, California quickly established herself as one of the conference's most dynamic all-around players, finishing with 48 goals and 63 total points. Gonzalez also added 22 steals and 16 drawn exclusions while making an impact on both ends of the pool throughout the season. Her immediate success and versatility helped solidify her as one of the top newcomers in the nation.
De Souza caps off one of the most decorated careers in program history with her fifth career All-America honor, earning a spot on the Second Team. The graduate student from Irvine, California anchored the Regals defensively all season, totaling 185 saves while posting a .489 save percentage. She also contributed 27 steals and 12 assists, showcasing her all-around presence in the cage. This season, de Souza surpassed 1,000 career saves and became Cal Lutheran's all-time leader in the category with 1,086, adding another milestone to her historic six-year career with the Regals.
Lohmeier earned the first All-America recognition of her career after a breakout senior season. The Mission Viejo, California native led Cal Lutheran offensively with 58 goals while adding 15 assists for a team-best 73 points. Lohmeier also posted an efficient .569 shooting percentage and collected Second Team All-SCIAC honors earlier this season. Her scoring consistency and offensive leadership were key components of the Regals' success throughout the year.
Hurley made an immediate impact in her first season with the Regals, earning Honorable Mention All-America recognition after transferring from Long Beach City College. The junior from Fresno, California finished third on the team with 43 goals while drawing 29 exclusions, the second-most on the squad. Hurley delivered several standout performances throughout the season, including a seven-goal outing against Redlands early in SCIAC play.
The quartet of All-America selections caps off another strong season for the Regals and further highlights the continued success of the Cal Lutheran women's water polo program at the national level.
