Gonzalez Headlines Trio of All-SCIAC Honorees for Regals

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's water polo was well represented on the 2026 All-SCIAC teams, highlighted by a major individual honor and multiple standout selections as the conference announced its postseason awards.

Freshman utility Aleaha Gonzalez earned SCIAC Newcomer of the Year honors while also landing on the All-SCIAC First Team, becoming one of the conference's most impactful first-year players. She is joined on the First Team by graduate goalkeeper Izzy de Souza, while senior attacker Lauren Lohmeier garnered Second Team recognition.

Gonzalez made an immediate and dynamic impact in her debut season, emerging as a key piece of a balanced Regals attack. The Commerce, California native finished eighth in the SCIAC with 25 goals and tied for seventh with 37 total points during conference play, showcasing both scoring ability and all-around versatility. She also added 13 steals and six drawn exclusions, consistently influencing play on both ends of the pool. Her rapid rise and production solidified her as one of the league's top newcomers and a cornerstone for the program moving forward.

De Souza adds yet another chapter to one of the most decorated careers in program history, earning her fifth All-SCIAC honor. The graduate goalkeeper anchored the Regals defensively throughout the season, recording 88 saves in conference play while posting an impressive .579 save percentage. She also contributed 15 steals and six assists, demonstrating her all-around presence in the cage.

This season marked a historic milestone for de Souza, as she surpassed 1,000 career saves and became Cal Lutheran's all-time leader in the category with 1,060 and counting. A three-time SCIAC Athlete of the Week selection this year, her consistency and leadership have been instrumental to the Regals' success.

Lohmeier earns the first All-SCIAC recognition of her career after leading the Regals offensively during conference play. The senior attacker paced the team with 34 goals and added five assists for a team-high 39 points, while maintaining an efficient .548 shooting percentage. A two-time SCIAC Athlete of the Week honoree this season, Lohmeier's scoring ability and steady production have been vital components of Cal Lutheran's attack.

With the regular season now complete, the Regals turn their focus to postseason play. Cal Lutheran secured the No. 3 seed in the SCIAC Tournament and will travel to face No. 2 seed Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the semifinals on Thursday at 7 p.m., looking to carry their momentum into a championship push.
