THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - The Cal Lutheran men's soccer team concluded its home schedule with a 3-1 loss against first place Redlands in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) matchup at Rolland Stadium on Monday night.

Prior to the contest, the Kingsmen recognized seniors Nick Baldi, Gui Borini, Logan Cone, Nathan Davidson, Branden Vogl, Tal Zaiet and Pedro Zaccarelli for their contributions to the program over the past four years.

After a fairly even start to the match, Redlands broke through for the first goal of the game in the 30th minute. The Bulldogs earned a free kick after a CLU foul, and capitalized on the opportunity after Tom Elsearan into the box and headed the ball into the back of the net.

Just two minutes later, Redlands doubled up the score with an identical goal, this time off a corner kick. Elsea came through for the Bulldogs once again with another header to the left corner of the goal.

Before the end of the half, in the 42nd minute, Alexander Knox gave Redlands a 3-0 advantage with a goal to the far right corner of the net.

The Kingsmen came out with some energy in the second half and prevented the shutout with a goal in the 61st minute by Henry Breheny. Charlie Villa-Lovos took a free kick for CLU that Brehenyheaded into the back of the net for his first goal of the season.

Zach Torres nearly made it a one-goal game with less than ten minutes to go, but his powerful shot hit just off the crossbar. CLU continued to press in the final minutes but Redlands would hold on for the victory.

Redlands outshot the Kingsmen 21-17 and held a 6-1advantage on corner kicks. Brandon Kearney led CLU with four shots on goalwhile Chris Ortiz and Logan Cone added two apiece. Eight other Kingsmen fired off a shot in the game. Sean Williams tied his season-high mark with eight saves in front of the goal for the Kingsmen.

Cal Lutheran (2-13-3, 2-11-2 SCIAC) will wrap up the season on the road this Saturday, Oct. 31 at Caltech.
