THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Capping of a busy day of events during Homecoming Weekend, the Cal Lutheran men's soccer team sent the alumni home happy with a 5-1 victory over Caltech on Saturday night at Rolland Stadium.

Logan Cone scored the first goal of the game and his first goal of the season on a nice feed from Zach Larson in the 5th minute. The speedy forward beat his defender around the baseline and found Cone shifting his way into the box for the goal.

Three minutes later, Larson kept the ball himself this time, spinning 360 degrees to lose the defender and open up space where he converted a laser into the back of the net.

After a defensive breakdown from the Kingsmen, Caltech brought the ball all the way to the corner where Chris Haack delivered a nice cross into the box. The ball made its way to Alex Pien who headed it down to Jean-Alexandre Turban who snuck one past the CLU goalie for the goal.

The Kingsmen continued to add to their lead with a Gui Borini goal in the 22nd minute as he reeled back and released a shot from 15-yards out that zoomed past the Beaver's goalie.

With a 3-1 lead at halftime, the Violet and Gold outshot Caltech 17-1 in the first half.

Fresh off his late game heroics in Cal Lutheran's latest victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Bryan Hulse scored his second goal of the season with a shot to the right corner of the goal from just outside the box.

In the 73rd minute, Mason Cleek set up the fifth and final score for the Kingsmen as he blew past his defender in the corner and fed a cross on point to Ryan Barber who kicked it in right in front of the goal.

Overall, CLU outshot the Beavers 31-2 in the game and held the edge in corner kicks 7-0, although it was not without a valiant effort from John David Feist, the Caltech goalie, who registered 16 saves and provided an array of acrobatic stops throughout the contest.

Larson led the Kingsmen with 11 shots in the game and six shots on goal while 15 different players registered a shot attempt for Cal Lutheran and 31 different players saw game action.

Cal Lutheran (5-7-3, 4-6-2 SCIAC) has now won two straight and will look to keep their streak alive on the road against Occidental on Monday, Oct. 20 at 7:00 p.m.
