THOUSAND OAKS Calif. - With the stands full of fans and alumni the Cal Lutheran women's water polo team doubled up Chapman, 12-6, in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) victory at the Samuelson Aquatics Center today.

Kehau Ai won the sprints for CLU in both the first and second periods and Jane Galluzzi promptly scored in each. Galluzzi and Adrienne Ingalla shared the team-high with a hat-trick apiece.

The first goal of the game came 52 seconds into play on a five-meter shot from Galluzzi. At the 4:05 mark Chapman equalized, but CLU would reel off a string of five unanswered goals to take a 6-1 lead and the momentum of the contest.

Sparking that run was Ingalla who scored on an assist from Amanda Jones. The next CLU possession began with Kaylee Kastrup earning a steal before handing the ball over to Tatiana McCuaig who scored with 1:32 to play in the opening frame.

The second stanza began much the same as the first with Ai winning the spring and Galluzzi finding the back of the net on a cross-pool pass from Morgan McCardell.Kastrup stepped up defensively again with a field block to regain possession of the ball. Jordan Card fed the ball to Galluzzi with 5:41 in the quarter and then McCuaig assisted Skylar Vasquez for the sixth goal of the game.

Looking as if the CLU defense had forced a turnover on a shot clock violation, the Panthers Alison Quincy fired off a shot from 8m out that found its way to the back of their cage as one of her three goals.

Cal Lutheran led 6-2 at the intermission.

After the break, Ingalla scored the ultimate winning goal as CLU executed a 6-on-5 situation for a 7-3 advantage. Card got her only steal of the day and converted it into a one-on-one goal to push the CLU lead to 8-3. With eight seconds to play in the third Ingalla scored her second of the frame on a five-meter shot to put CLU ahead 9-4.

The fourth quarter saw Jones score a pair. She tipped the ball past the CU goalie after recovering a rebound from her own shot that hit the crossbar to start the scoring in the final eight minutes.

Senior center Shannon Streeter got in on the action with a behind-the-back goal with 6:20 remaining in regulation. CLU tacked on one more with 2:39 on another man-up opportunity. After drawing the ejection, the Regals took a timeout and came back to implement the play with Jones scoring on a pass from Julia Samarin.

Overall, Ingalla had three goals and three drawn ejections while Galluzzi had three goals and two drawn ejection. Jones and Ai shared the team-lead with two assists apiece. Kastrup drew an ejection and handed out an assist for the Violet and Gold today.

Defensively, Kylee Tomasetti finished with 12 blocks in front of the cage, adding a steal. CLU combined for four field blocks with Ai, Kastrup, Ingalla and McCardell each recording one. Ai came up with four steals, Kastrup tallied three and Ingalla added two.

Chapman was paced by Quincy with three goals. Kate Staskus, Samantha Martin and Samantha McLaughlin each scored as well. CU goalie, Jordan Gilmore, had seven saves.

Cal Lutheran (8-12, 2-1 SCIAC) will be on the road Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Whittier (13-15, 3-0) for a 5:00 p.m. showdown with the league-leading Poets.
