CLAREMONT, Calif. - In a rematch of a double overtime 1-1 draw earlier this season the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen were unable to score against Pomona-Pitzer today, falling 1-0 to the Sagehens in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action.

The Kingsmen outshot the Sagehens 17-10, including a 13-shot effort in the second half, adding eight corner kicks, while allowing just one for PP, but it was a goal in the 23rd minute that made the difference in the outcome when Nathan Shekita passed to Voja Maric for the game-winning score.

Cal Lutheran had a number of good chances late with two solid shots from Sergio Torres. One wasinside the 18 that was deflected just wide of the left post with 10 minutes remaining in regulation and five minutes later he shot from 10 yards out, which went wide right of the post.

Also with opportunities at the end of the contest were Cameron Rude and Thiago Gaglianone. Rude made his way to a deflected ball and put out a great effort inside the box, but the Hens goalie Nigel Brady left his feet to deny the shot from going into the net. In the final minute, Gaglianone had a chance from 25 yards out, but Brady made one of his five game-saving stops to secure the win for Pomona-Pitzer.

Torres came off the bench for a four-shot performance to lead the Kingsmen. Jimmy Carter, Logan Cone, Ivan Sanchez and Salvador Orozco each had two shots tonight for the Violet and Gold.

CLU goalie Jack Duncan played all 90 minutes, turning away seven Pomona-Pitzer shots, allowing just the one goal.

Shekita led Pomona-Pitzer (7-9-1, 6-6-1 SCIAC) with three shots, all on target while Maric fired off a pair.

Cal Lutheran (8-6-2, 6-5-2 SCIAC) returns to Rolland Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 26 to host Whittier in the second to last home game of the season. Teams will take the field at 7:00 p.m.
