MONTEREY PARK, Calif. – The Cal Lutheran men's and women's swimming and diving teams continued competition at the 2026 SCIAC Championships on Thursday, highlighted by another record-breaking performance and strong relay finishes in the evening finals.
Madi Bodhidatta delivered one of the top swims of the meet in the women's 50 freestyle, placing second overall with a program-record time of 23.10. The mark ranks ninth in the NCAA this season and adds to what has already been a historic week for the Regals.
Ella Call added points in the 500 freestyle, finishing eighth in 5:15.89. The Regals closed the night with a fourth-place finish in the 400 medley relay, as
Julia Benko, Katie Lahood,
Victoria Lawrence, and Bodhidatta combined for a time of 4:01.46.
On the men's side,
Camden Franjieh impressed in the 1-meter diving finals, placing seventh with 400.95 points to build on his scoring effort from Wednesday.
Zach Zauhar-Kurr earned a tie for sixth in the 200 IM, touching in 1:51.55 to score valuable points for the Kingsmen. Cal Lutheran capped the evening with a fifth-place finish in the 400 medley relay, as
McKay Nelms,
Markus Stegbuchner,
Tristan Serrano, and
Andreas Nordlund clocked a 3:25.69.
After two days of competition, the Regals sit fourth in the team standings with 155 points, while the Kingsmen are sixth with 141 points.
Cal Lutheran returns to action on Friday with prelims beginning at 9 a.m., followed by the women's 3-meter diving finals at 1:30 p.m. and another full slate of evening finals.
