THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Cal Lutheran men's swimming and diving hosted the annual Chris Knorr Invite on Friday morning and was the only men's team competing.
Ian Reece set a lifetime best, and
Camden Franjieh set another program record in his young diving career.
Franjieh scored a 303.45 in the 6-dive off the 3 meter, which placed him atop the history books for Kingsmen diving. It also marked his second qualifying score for NCAA Regionals, meaning he is now eligible to compete in the postseason for the 3 meter. Franjieh already qualified for the 1 meter earlier this season, so he will be able to compete in both events at the NCAA Regionals.
Three Kingsmen won multiple individual events against their teammates–
Tristan Serrano,
Ian Reece, and
Ethan Lavery.
Serrano took first in the 100y (49.03) and 200y (1:48.27) freestyles. Reece won the 100y breaststroke (1:02.20) and the 200y backstroke (2:01.07). The 200y backstroke marked a lifetime best for Reece. Lavery placed first in the 100y (55.08) and 200y (2:05.21) butterflies.
Cal Lutheran will be back in action next weekend when it hosts Caltech and Redlands in a SCIAC tri-meet on the morning of Saturday, January 10.
