Cal Lutheran men's and women's track and field participated in two different meets last week, as a pair of Regals competed in the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific University, and a group of Kingsmen and Regals raced at the University of La Verne Leopard Invitational.
Summer Gelman kicked things off at Bryan Clay on Thursday morning with the 5k. She finished 56th with a time of 18:10.69, and was seventh among her fellow SCIAC opponents.
Cheyanne Rodriguez followed up with the hammer throw, taking 32nd place with 42.60m.
Meanwhile in La Verne,
Adrian Rodriguez competed in the 800m to round out the afternoon. He was ninth to cross the finish line with a time of 2:02.11.
Both the men and women distance runners were in action at ULV on Friday. The Regals got the day started as
Alison Orwin,
Jackie Prieto, and
Evan Edwards took on the 1500m. Orwin was the top finisher for Cal Lu, clocking a time of 5:14.70 to finish 34th. She was followed by Prieto in 46th (5:37.49) and Edwards in 48th (5:44.60).
Nicolas Moore and
George Gaitanis ran the men's 1500m, placing 26th and 40th with times of 4:10.75 and 4:41.99, respectively.
That evening,
Eric Talbert,
Sebastian Sawyer, and
Logan Bury ran the 5k to close out the week. Talbert finished first of the trio with 16:05.44 for 66th place, followed by Sawyer in 73rd (16:26.41) and Bury in 77th (17:02.81).
Next up, Cal Lutheran will compete at the SCIAC Championships in Eagle Rock, California on April 26 and 27.
