REDLANDS, Calif. – Cal Lutheran men's and women's track and field put together a strong, well-rounded performance at the 2026 SCIAC Championships this past weekend at Redlands, combining for 32 personal bests, five All-SCIAC honors, and seven marks that rank among the program's all-time top 10.
The Regals led the way on the women's side with a collection of scoring performances across sprints, distance, and relays, highlighted by
Sloan Pullen's podium finish in the 1500 meters. Pullen placed third in 4:38.25 to earn All-SCIAC recognition, while teammate
Summer Gelman added a seventh-place finish in the same event after a strong showing in the prelims. Pullen also contributed in the 800 meters, advancing to the final and finishing ninth overall.
In the sprints,
Gracie Gervacio turned in a standout weekend, placing fourth in the 100 meters (12.39) and sixth in the 200 meters (25.85), while also running a leg on the Regals' 4x100 relay that finished seventh. Her performances in both events moved her into Cal Lutheran's all-time top 10.
Jodie Oparanaku added to the team's scoring effort with a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking 15.38 to secure another top-10 mark in program history. She also competed in the 4x100 relay alongside Gervacio,
Taylor Dominguez, and
Niani Jones.
The Regals' depth showed in multiple events, including a 10th-place finish from Gelman in the 5000 meters and an eighth-place result from the 4x400 relay team of
Sydney Culp, Pullen,
Angelina Diaz, and
Quinn Dubrul. In the steeplechase, Elliette Sinclair recorded a performance that moves her into eighth all-time at Cal Lutheran.
On the men's side, the Kingsmen were highlighted by a conference title from
Michael Holland, who captured the 200 meters in 21.46 after leading the field in the prelims. He also placed sixth in the 100 meters, with both performances ranking among the best in program history, including a No. 2 all-time mark in the 200.
Cal Lutheran added three more All-SCIAC performances in the field events, as
Drew Nees placed second in the high jump (1.95m),
Tyler Thompson took third in the long jump (6.67m), and
Darrin Parham finished third in the triple jump (13.59m).
The Kingsmen continued to add points on the track with fifth-place finishes in both the 4x100 relay (
Craig Jackson, Holland, Thompson,
Logan Brock) and the 4x400 relay (Thompson,
Caden Ferguson,
Nicolas Martinez, Holland).
In the throws,
Wyatt Nowak led the group with a fifth-place finish in the hammer throw, moving into eighth all-time in program history, while also placing seventh in the shot put.
Kyndrie Bolton contributed in both the discus and hammer, finishing sixth in each event.
As a team, the Regals placed sixth overall while the Kingsmen finished seventh, closing out the conference meet with momentum and a series of personal-best performances.
Cal Lutheran will now look ahead to its final opportunities to qualify individuals for the NCAA Championships, as select athletes are set to compete at the Azusa Pacific Last Chance meet from May 7-9.
