CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Cal Lutheran men's and women's track and field teams combined for three event victories and four program top-10 performances on Saturday at the SCIAC Quad #1.
The Regals finished third overall with 105 points, highlighted by strong performances across the jumps, distance events, and throws.
Leading the way was
Niani Jones, who captured the triple jump title with a mark of 11.05 meters, the fourth-best mark in program history. Jones also added a second-place finish in the long jump (5.12m) to contribute valuable team points.
On the track,
Sloan Pullen delivered a strong distance double, finishing second in the 800 meters (2:24.27) and third in the 1500 meters (4:50.08). Her 1500 time moved her into 10th all-time in Cal Lutheran history.
In the sprints,
Gracie Gervacio recorded a runner-up finish in the 100 meters (12.87) and later placed fourth in the 200 meters (26.75).
The Regals also saw strong results in the hurdles and steeplechase.
Jodie Oparanaku finished third in the 100-meter hurdles (16.31), while
Summer Gelman took second in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:04.77, moving into fifth all-time in program history.
In the field events,
Taylor Dominguez contributed in multiple disciplines, finishing second in the pole vault (3.20m) and third in the high jump (1.48m).
Gabriela Pullen added another podium finish for the Regals with second place in the javelin (30.28m).
On the men's side, the Kingsmen placed fourth with 87 points, highlighted by two event victories and several podium finishes.
Drew Nees claimed the high jump title with a clearance of 1.93 meters, while
Landen Meonske secured another victory in the triple jump (12.93m).
Michael Holland continued his strong season in the sprints, placing third in the 400 meters (49.27).
In the jumps,
Camden Hyde earned a second-place finish in the long jump (6.76m).
The Kingsmen also saw success in the throwing events.
Marcus Rojas took second in the shot put (13.02m), while
Kyndrie Bolton recorded two top-three finishes with second in the hammer throw (48.53m) and third in the discus (37.85m). Bolton's hammer mark ranks seventh all-time in program history.
Rounding out the results,
Craig Jackson finished sixth in the 100 meters (11.49) and
Julian Sepulveda placed fifth in the javelin (39.38m).
Cal Lutheran will return to competition on Saturday, March 14, at Occidental's Distance Carnival.
