CLAREMONT, Calif. – Cal Lutheran men's and women's track and field combined for two event wins, three CLU all-time top-10 marks, and 21 personal bests at the SCIAC Quad Meet #1 on Saturday.
The Regals finished third with 107.66 points and the Kingsmen took fourth with 46 for a combined program place of fourth.
Summer Gelman led in the women's distance events, finishing first in the 1500 with 4:43.80 and eighth in the 5k with 18:37.84. Her times rank seventh and ninth respectively in the Cal Lu program records.
Cheyanne Rodriguez was the runner up in both the discus (35.84m) and hammer throws (44.55m). Her mark in the hammer is eighth on the program's all-time list.
As for the jumps,
Niani Jones impressed with a pair of podium finishes. She was second in the triple jump with 10.72m and third in the long jump with 4.97m.
Rounding out the day for the Regals was
Taylor Dominguez's third-place mark in the pole vault (3.22m).
Fatima Cervantes added a runner up performance in the 400 hurdles (1:12.34) as well as a third-place finish in the high jump with 1.50m.
For the men
Drew Nees and
Darrin Parham led in the field events. News won gold in the high jump with 1.90m, while Parham finished second in the triple jump with 12.49m and fifth in the long jump with 5.93m.
On the track,
Dominic De Leon claimed fourth in the 400 hurdles (1:00.38),
Adrian Rodriguez took seventh in the 800 (2:03.66), and Joey Papa was eighth in the 400 (53.05).
The teams are back in action next weekend on March 8th for the Oxy Distance Carnival/Spring Break Classic.
