Box Score 2 THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's water polo dropped its first game to Toronto but rallied in its second and put together a dominating win over Whittier.
Cal Lutheran 7, Toronto 13
In a rematch versus Toronto, Cal Lutheran was down 2-1 after a tight first quarter with a goal from
Megan Findlay.
Miranda Miller and
Claire Daland found the back of the cage and put the Regals up 3-2 halfway through the second period. The Golden Jets and the Regals went back-and-forth for the rest of the quarter, but Toronto led at the half 6-3.
In the third quarter, Cal Lutheran and Toronto continued to trade goals, but the Regals could not find the lead and remained down 10-6.
Katie Knight's two goals in the quarter kept the Regals' heads above water. The Regals were only able to score one goal in the fourth period to the Jets' three and lost 13-7.
Knight led the Regals with two goals and Daland was dominant on the defensive side of the pool with four steals.
Cal Lutheran 20, Whittier 7
After a hard-fought first game, the Regals responded in dramatic fashion and found the back of the net 20 times against Whittier.
The Regals came out firing in the first period with six goals to the Poets' zero. Whittier responded in the second quarter with two early goals, but Cal Lutheran matched them as both teams closed out the half with three goals in the period. Daland remained dominant and ended the half with three goals.
With a 9-3 lead at the half, the Regals were not satisfied. Cal Lutheran outmatched the Poets in the second half and slotted in 11 more goals while Whitter only scored four. The Regals showed off their talent with a complete team win and a 20-7 victory.

Hudson Geier,
Lauren Lohmeier, and Daland.
Coach Settem was extremely pleased with the performance of his team, "We executed a well-balanced offense and defense across the board. It was a huge improvement from the morning and we just need to keep building on those small details."
The Regals will be back in the pool tomorrow to finish the 2025 Tina Finali Tournament against UC Merced at 9:30 a.m. and Azusa Pacific at 2:00 p.m.
