MONTEREY PARK, Calif. – Cal Lutheran men's and women's swimming and diving continued to make history at the SCIAC Championships, setting two new program records and adding multiple top-10 performances.
The Kingsmen closed out the day in sixth place with 207 points, while the Regals sit at fourth with 296.
Lincoln Hall delivered a golden performance in the men's 100 breast, being the first to touch the wall at 54.05.
Markus Stegbuchner joined him on the podium, finishing third at 55.34. Both marks rank among the top-10 times in Kingsmen history.
McKay Nelms also added a top program time in the 100 back, placing seventh with 52.09. In the 200 free,
Caelan Jack took 13th with 1:43.43 and
Evan Encell was 15th with 1:43.82.
The men's 400 medley relay team of Nelms, Hall, Encell, and Jack placed sixth at 3:25.29. Meanwhile,
Levi Cook rounded out the men's events with a score of 206.95 points in 3m dive.
On the women's side,
Madi Bodhidatta highlighted the day with a sixth-place finish in the 100 fly, clocking in at 56.89 to set a new program record. She broke her own mark of 57.30, which was set at last year's SCIAC Championships.
Alana Tamura joined her in the event, placing 13th at 59.02 to land on the Regals' top-10 list.
The 400 medley relay team of
Julia Benko,
Tori Portillo, Bodhidatta, and
Breann Bracken also etched their names in Regal history, finishing fourth at 3:55.50 to claim the school record. The previous mark of 3:57.65 stood since 2018.
Individually, Benko placed 11th in the 100 back with 58.85 and
Owan Fralick took 15th with 59.58, as they both joined the women's top-10. Portillo secured 10th in the 100 breast at 1:07.55, and
Dru Bauman (400 IM, 4:48.36) and
Laine Gilluly (200 free, 1:58.80) also contributed valuable points.
The final day of the SCIAC Championships is Sunday, February 22. The day consists of the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, 400 free relay, and the top-eight 1650.
