ORANGE, Calif. – Cal Lutheran men's and women's swimming and diving competed against Chapman in their last dual meet of the season, and both fell to the Panthers on Saturday afternoon.
The Kingsmen were defeated 106-182 as they claimed six events, and the Regals lost 128.5-170.5 taking seven events.
Sebi Petho and
Markus Stegbuchner won two individual events each to lead the men. Petho was first in the 1000 free with 10:11.91 and the 500 free with 4:53.77, while Stegbuchner claimed the 200 breast with 2:09.66 and the 400 IM with 4:12.78.
Lincoln Hall and
Ethan Lavery also added individual wins for the Kingsmen. Hall took the 100 breast with 56.49 and Lavery claimed the 200 fly with 2:01.18.
Kendall Moffitt and
Brooke Blaylock led the women with two wins apiece. Moffitt was first in the 1000 free with 10:45.32 and 500 free with 5:15.71, and Blaylock stole the 1 mtr and 3 mtr dives with 267.90 and 277.15 points, respectively.
Julia Benko,
Madi Bodhidatta, and
Tori Portillo each had one individual win for the Regals. Benko took the 100 back with 1:00.86, Bodhidatta won the 50 free with 24.48, and Portillo tied for first in the 200 breast with 2:30.88.
Both teams combined for 15 runner-up finishes, including three in the relay events. On the men's side,
Valentino Soroor, Hall, Lavery, and
Andreas Nordlund were second in the 200 medley with 1:37.23.
Alana Tamura, Portillo, Bodhidatta, and
Breann Bracken were the runner-ups in the women's 200 medley, and Bohidatta, Bracken,
Maia Ciccarello, and Moffitt were second in the 200 free.
"We had several lifetime bests at the meet," said Head Coach
Barry Schreifels. "The team is taking a lot of momentum into the SCIAC Championship!"
The championships take place in Claremont next week, beginning on Wednesday, February 19.
