CLAREMONT, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's cross country competed at the Pomona-Pitzer Invite on Saturday morning. The 6K course looped around Pomona-Pitzer's campus as the Regals finished 13th out of 19 placing teams and 5th of the SCIAC programs.
Summer Gelman placed 20th individually, and 6th out of SCIAC runners.
The Regals set eight personal bests as
Alexis Gonzalez (24:59.1),
Ellie Sinclair (25:00.6),
Sophie Wight (26:22.8),
Belen Catalan (26:49.1),
Jackie Prieto (27:43.2),
Quinn Dubrul (28:25.7),
Louisa Augustine (29:20.6), and
Kendall Fleming (30:19.3) ran outstanding races.
Three Cal Lutheran runners set course bests as the Pomona-Pitzer course is a familiar one for the cross country program. Gelman (22:24.9),
Angelina Diaz (26:31.1), and
Dinkenesh Coltvet (30:16.1).
Two of the above times were Cal Lutheran all-time top-25 marks. Gelman improved on her 3rd-lowest time by four seconds, and Gonzalez entered the rankings at 25th.
Yesterday's race marked the first of three this season at the Pomona-Pitzer course, as the SCIAC Championships and the NCAA West Regionals will both be at the same course.
Cal Lutheran's next race will be the Highlander Invite in Riverside on the morning of October 18.
