CLAREMONT, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's cross country competed at the SCIAC Championships on Saturday morning in the 6K, finishing sixth as a team with 169 points across its 11 participants.
Summer Gelman finished 10th individually, earning First Team All-SCIAC for the second-consecutive season. The Regals set four course bests, with
Ellie Sinclair joining the top-25 times in program history at Pomona-Pitzer. Cal Lutheran's sixth-place finish is its best since 2014 when it tied for fifth.
Gelman once again led her team with a time of 22:26.20, good for 10th-place individually in the race. The top-10 finishers were named First Team All-SCIAC, and Gelman kicked down to move from 11th to 10th in the final 150 meters of the race. She is the 4th Regal ever to be named First Team All-SCIAC multiple times, as she achieved the honor last year as well.
Sinclair (24:48.80),
Sophie Wight (25:56.30),
Jackie Prieto (27:32.80), and
Dinkenesh Coltvet (29:48.50) all set course bests in their efforts. Sinclair's mark earned her a spot at 22nd in program history at the Pomona-Pitzer course.
Cal Lutheran's next race will be yet another at the Pomona-Pitzer course for the NCAA West Regionals on November 15. The Regals can send a maximum of seven runners to compete.
