Kingsmen, Regals Compete at The Master’s Invite

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's and women's cross country competed in their third meet of the season as they raced at the Master's Invitational on Saturday morning. The Kingsmen finished 23rd with the second fastest team time for the course in program history, and the Regals were 18th with six women racing their first career 6k.

Coach Brett Halvaks said "Both teams raced well today in the heat and in the biggest meet size we will be in all year". He was "happy to see how much the Kingsmen improved for their third 8k and proud of how the Regals competed for their first 6k of the season".

Eric Talbert was the first Kingsmen to cross the finish line. He placed 89th with a time of 26 minutes and 21.9 seconds. Logan Bury was next, coming in 132nd place with 27:02.0. His performance was a personal best and seventh place all-time on the course for Cal Lutheran.

Nine more Kingsmen competed and Adrian Rodriguez was 143rd with 27:13.9 (10th place CLU all-time on the course), Sebastian Sawyer was 150th with 27:19.6, Nicolas Moore was 201st with 29:24.0, George Gaitanis was 203rd with 29:30.0, Diego Romero was 213th with 30:11.2, Vincent May was 225th with 32:03.1, Joe Lopez Vasquez was 228th with 33:32.1, Ian Skrinde was 231st with 37:49.3, and Agam Toor finished with 24:57.3.

Moore, Romero, and May all ran personal bests for the Kingsmen this morning.

Summer Gelman led the way for the Regals. She was 29th with a time of 22:58.7, setting the course record for Cal Lutheran. Also racing for the Regals was Nataly Vigil Tello with a time of  24:39.6 in 109th, Alison Orwin with 25:14.1 in 138th, Cordelia Hautekeete with 25:27.0 in 145th, Angelina Diaz with 27:13.6 in 184th, Elliette Sinclair with 27:27.8 in 187th, Jackie Prieto with 28:35.4 in 205th, Dinkenesh Coltvet with 31:24.4 in 220th, Kendall Fleming with 32:26.5 in 227th, and Isabela Garcia-Work with 32:55.9 in 229th. 

Fleming's finish was a personal best in the 6k.

"We will use what we learned today to prepare us for our next meet in two weeks," Halvaks said. The Kingsmen and Regals will be back in action at the Pomona-Pitzer Invite on Saturday, October 19th.
