Carbullido Wins Two Events, MacKinnon Adds One at SCIAC Multi-Dual #2

CLAREMONT, Calif. — Brendon Carbullido won two events and Jake MacKinnon added one more as California Lutheran University men's track & field competed at SCIAC Multi-Dual #2 on Saturday. 

The Kingsmen took on Chapman, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and La Verne in the second of three SCIAC competitions leading up to the championships. Cal Lutheran just narrowly lost to La Verne 71-68. The Kingsmen lost to CMS 119-26 and Chapman 101-57. 

Carbullido dominated the jumping events, taking the long and triple jump. He bested the competition with 6.47 meters in the long jump and 13.08 meters in the triple jump. 

MacKinnon competed in throwing events. He took gold in the discus with a distance of 40.02 meters. He added third in the hammer throw with 46.69 meters and fourth in the shot put with 12.89. 

Chris Noji made it five top-five finishes for the Kingsmen and snagged bronze in the high jump. He cleared 1.65 meters and made it on the podium. 
 
More top marks for Cal Lutheran included Cooper Curtin tying for fourth in the pole vault ( 4.40m), Sebastian Sawyer placing eighth in the 3,000-meter steeple chase (10:01.58), Noah Gaudi claiming eighth in the 100-meter dash (11.40), Luke VanKeersbilck placing ninth in the 800-meter run (2:02.03), and Gaudi placing 10th in the 200-meter dash (23.19). 


The Kingsmen also competed in two relay races. Gaudi, Carbullido, Noji and Bryan Bugni were fourth in the 400-meter relay with 44.84 while Gaudi, VanKeersbilck, Connor Judd and Max Segeberg took sixth in the 1,600-meter relay with 3:43.00. 

Cal Lutheran continues the season next weekend and are at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday. The meet starts at 9 a.m.
