WHITTIER, Calif. - The Cal Lutheran baseball team won its sixth and seventh straight games on Saturday after edging out Whittier, 4-3, in game one before turning around and downing the Poets 9-4 at Memorial Field.

CLU def. WC 4-3
With the score knotted up at zero heading into the fourth inning, Jimmy Jauregui helped the Kingsmen break through with a double to right center. Justin Caña followed with a single to right to bring in the first run of the game. The Poets, however, would answer in the bottom half of the inning and added two more in the sixth on a homerun to take a 3-1 lead.

RBI singles from Gabe Gunter and Sinjin Todd in the seventh and eighth innings, respectively, tied the game at 3-3 and a sacrifice fly from Trey Saito to score Nick Cohan in the top of the ninth proved to be the game-winner.

Saito led the Kingsmen at the plate going 3-for-4 with a run and the game-winning RBI while Chad Clark, Gunter and Caña all had two hits apiece.

Evan Peterson started the game and went 5.1 innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits while striking out three. Pitcher of record, Nate Wehner (5-3) earned the win after coming in and getting the final out of the eighth inning.

CLU def. WC 9-4
The Kingsmen offense came alive in the second game of the afternoon, collecting 16 hits for nine runs to complete the sweep.

After falling behind early, CLU rallied back and poured on six runs in the final two innings.

Davey Casciola hit a two-run homerun, his fourth of the year, and finished the game 4-for-5 with three RBI's and two runs scored. Ramsey Abushahla had a strong day at the plate going 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI. Caña collected two hits for the second straight game and Jauregui also had two hits.

Marshall Pautsch (5-1) earned the win after going 7.1 innings and scattering eight hits while allowing four earned runs and striking out three.
