NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - One day after opening league play, the Cal Lutheran women's water polo team returned to the rigors of competing with Division I programs, facing Harvard (Mass.) for the second time in a week and host Cal State University, Northridge, falling twice by 14-3 and 22-8 margins, respectively, this evening.

CLU was scoreless in the first period against Harvard while the Crimson got all the offense they would need with four goals. The Regals got on the board twice and scored again in the fourth with Adrienne Ingalla, Kaylee Kastrup and Tatiana McCuaig all finding the back of the net. Jordan Card drew four ejections to lead the Violet and Gold and Ingalla and Logan Young each earned three steals. Ingalla also recorded the only field block of the day for CLU, drawing a pair of ejections, too. Gina Merry turned in another double-digit saves performance with 10.

The second game saw more scoring for the Regals, but CSUN would storm out to a 7-1 lead and never looked back. Cal Lutheran was paced by a hat-trick from Card, which included a five-meter shot, and two goals from Amanda Jones. For the second time today Card drew four ejections. Rounding out the scoring in the second game were Ingalla, Young and KC Brendel who also converted a five-meter opportunity. Ingalla would add two assists and a pair of steals.

Sharing the team-lead with three steals apiece were Merry and McCuaig with Merry tallying eight saves as the CLU stopper.

Cal Lutheran (5-16) has concluded the non-conference portion of the 2014 schedule and will return to SCIAC play on Wednesday, March 26 at Pomona-Pitzer with a 5:00 p.m. showdown against the Sagehens.
