THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Cal Lutheran women's water polo put together another dominating performance on Saturday earning a 10-3 conference win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at the Samuelson Aquatics Center.

Cal Lutheran's defensive effort was led by 13 saves from junior goalkeeper Kylee Tomasetti. She attributes the team's ability to communicate to the recent success of the Regals defense over the past three SCIAC contests.



Cal Lutheran shut down all seven player advantage chances Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (11-11, 2-1 SCIAC) had on the day. In league play Cal Lutheran's opponents have converted just 2-of-21 power play chances this season and scored a total of 10 goals in three games.

Meanwhile the Regals offense converted 2-of-3 power play opportunities in the game and scored 10 or more goals for the third straight game. Seven different Regals contributed to the scoring column led by three second half goals from Kelsey Bergemann. She finished with two assists, two steals and one of three CLU drawn exclusions.

Mieke Howell scored on both of her first quarter attempts with her second giving the Regals a 3-1 lead at the end of one quarter. Cal Lutheran scored seven of the game's first eight goals and capped off the first half scoring five unanswered to lead 6-1 at the half.

Morgan McCardell led all players with four assists and three steals in the victory. She currently leads the team with 25 assists this season and ranks second with 30 steals and 28 goals.

No. 4 nationally ranked Cal Lutheran (15-7, 3-0 SCIAC) will be on the road Wednesday, April 11, against No. 2 Occidental (18-6, 1-2 SCIAC).
