MOORPARK, Calif. – The Cal Lutheran men's golf team delivered a strong showing at its home tournament, finishing second at the Kingsmen Invitational held Monday and Tuesday at Moorpark Country Club. The event also served as the program's senior match, honoring
Aidan Allen,
Jacob Fox, and
Ty Kuroda.
The Kingsmen posted a two-round score of +17, improving significantly from +12 in the opening round to +5 on day two. They finished only behind No. 24-ranked Pomona-Pitzer in a competitive field.
Cal Lu was led by a trio of top-five finishers, as Kuroda,
Jackson Stitt, and
Nick Huffman each tied for fourth overall at +3.
Kuroda turned in a steady performance across both rounds with scores of 74 and 73. He closed strong on Tuesday, highlighted by a front-nine 35 that included multiple birdies to climb the leaderboard.
Stitt made a big jump, bouncing back from a 76 on day one to fire a 1-under 71 in round two. His second round featured a 2-under front nine and consistent play down the stretch to secure a share of fourth.
Huffman also showed consistency, following his opening-round 75 with an even-par 72 on Tuesday. He stayed near the top of the standings throughout the event, spending much of round two at or below par to earn a share of fourth.
Ryan Mattivi finished tied for 21st at +8, while
Tate Evans placed 24th at +9 to round out the Kingsmen scoring lineup.
Competing as individuals,
Kaden Devenport and
Luke Rimkunas added depth to the field for Cal Lutheran. Devenport finished tied for 12th at +5, while Rimkunas placed 15th at +7, highlighted by an impressive 5-under 67 in the second round.
The Kingsmen will return to action at SCIAC No. 2, hosted by Redlands at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon in Beaumont, California, on April 3-4.
