SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Cal Lutheran men's tennis opened the 2026 spring season with a 7-0 loss at NCAA Division II opponent Westmont College on Tuesday afternoon.
The Warriors secured the opening doubles point by taking two of three matches. The Kingsmen earned their lone doubles win at No. 2, where the duo of
Carlo Drewelow and
Raphael Simon picked up a 6-3 victory over Westmont's Zach Steinberg and Diego De Cooman. The Warriors responded with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
Westmont maintained its momentum, sweeping all six singles positions to close out the match. Several contests were tightly contested, including a three-set battle at No. 4 from
Maxence Faniel and a competitive showing at No. 2 by Simon. At No. 3,
Toki Adachi forced a decisive tiebreak before falling to Westmont's Driss Sedrati.
Cal Lutheran returns to action next weekend with a three-match road trip to Oregon, beginning at Pacific University in Forest Grove on Friday, February 13 at 9:30 a.m.
