LEXINGTON, Ky. – Following a dominant 5-0 week in Illinois, Cal Lutheran men's volleyball climbed from ninth to No. 6 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Poll, released Tuesday.
The Kingsmen were nearly flawless in the Midwest, winning five matches while dropping just one set overall. CLU recorded victories over North Park, Illinois Tech, Wisconsin-Stevens Point, North Central, and Dominican during the trip.
Offensively, Cal Lutheran continues to be one of the nation's most efficient attacks, averaging 12.3 kills per set with a .308 team hitting percentage. Juniors
Brendan Hom and
Tyler Linville pace the Kingsmen, with Hom hitting .385 and averaging 3.61 kills per set, while Linville checks in at .324 with 3.07 kills per set.
Sophomore setter
Gavin Galanski orchestrates the offense with 8.19 assists per set. On the defensive side, senior
Braden Gonzales anchors the back row with 2.92 digs per set, while junior
Matthew Wilcox adds a strong presence at the net, averaging 1.19 blocks per set.
Cal Lutheran returns to action on Thursday, February 5, welcoming NCAA Division I opponent UC Santa Barbara to Gilbert Arena. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
