Ballard, Holley Sweep Top SCIAC Honors; Mack Earns Second Team Recognition

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – After capturing the outright regular season title for the first time since 2013, the Cal Lutheran women's basketball team was recognized in historic fashion as the conference announced its 2025-26 All-SCIAC selections.

Alline Ballard was named SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Year and earned First Team All-SCIAC honors, while Janna Holley claimed SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Year and a First Team selection. Kaiya Mack rounded out the trio with Second Team All-SCIAC recognition.

It marks the first time that any women's or men's program has swept both major individual awards since the SCIAC split its top honor into Offensive and Defensive Athlete of the Year designations in 2021-22. The recognition mirrors the Regals' regular-season success, as they closed at 21-4 overall and 13-3 in conference play to power through a tight four-team race and secure sole possession of the SCIAC crown.

Ballard continues to build one of the most dominant resumes in program history. The junior forward averaged 15.4 points and 11.3 rebounds per game during the regular season, leading the Regals in both categories while ranking second in the SCIAC in scoring and first in rebounding. She also finished sixth in field-goal percentage, seventh in free-throw percentage, and seventh in blocks among conference leaders.

In just 22 games, Ballard recorded 16 double-doubles, including an 11-game double-double streak from November 15 through January 10. She scored a season-high 28 points at Occidental on January 17 and grabbed a season-best 22 rebounds at Chapman on January 3.

This year, she joined Cal Lutheran's 1,000-point club and now sits at 881 career rebounds, just 11 shy of tying the program's all-time record. Despite suffering an injury in early February that sidelined her for three games and limited her return in the regular-season finale, Ballard's body of work left little doubt. A two-time SCIAC Athlete of the Week this season, earning recognition on both offense and defense, she has consistently set the standard on both ends of the floor.

Holley's senior season has been just as impactful. The point guard started all 25 games and leads the team in minutes played, averaging 11.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest while adding 91 assists and 61 steals. She ranks sixth in the SCIAC in assists, fourth in steals, and third with a 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio, serving as the steady force behind Cal Lutheran's attack.

Holley also reached the 1,000-point milestone this season and now has 1,153 career points, ranking 10th in program history. Her 426 career assists rank second all-time at CLU, and she sits fifth in career steals with 202.

Her season was filled with statement performances: an eight-steal effort against Hartford on November 8, a 14-rebound showing at Caltech on February 7, and a 20-point outing against Redlands on January 31, capped by a dramatic buzzer-beating layup that proved pivotal in the conference title race. A three-time SCIAC Athlete of the Week selection, Holley's defensive presence and leadership have anchored the Regals all year.

Mack adds another All-SCIAC honor to her resume after averaging 11.4 points per game while shooting .391 from beyond the arc and a conference-best .871 from the free-throw line. She has started all 25 games, ranking third on the team in scoring and second in both assists (52) and steals (49), while leading the starting rotation in three-point percentage. She also ranks 10th in the SCIAC in three-pointers made per game.

The junior guard poured in a season-high 28 points at Whittier on January 28, knocking down five three-pointers, and was recently named SCIAC Player of the Week after back-to-back double-double performances that helped clinch the outright regular-season championship at home.

Together, the trio has powered a championship run that now carries into postseason play, with hardware in hand and more still within reach.
