Kingsmen Take Road Win Over Linfield

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – The Cal Lutheran men's tennis team picked up its second straight win of the Oregon road trip on Sunday afternoon, defeating Linfield University by a 4-2 score.

The Kingsmen were tested in doubles play, dropping two of three matches to fall behind 1-0. Carlo Drewelow and Mateo Sonaglia secured Cal Lu's lone doubles point at No. 2 with a 6-3 victory, but Linfield claimed courts one and three to take the early advantage.

For the second consecutive match, the Purple & Gold answered in singles as Ethan Sherwood evened the team score with a 2-1 win at the No. 1 position.

After Linfield responded at No. 2 to keep the match level, Cal Lutheran seized control of the afternoon. Maxence Faniel delivered a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the four spot, and Toki Adachi followed with a strong 7-6, 7-5 performance at No. 3. Drewelow was dominant at No. 5, rolling to a 6-0, 6-1 win to clinch the team result, while the final singles match went unfinished.

With the victory, the Kingsmen improve to 2-0 on their road swing and will close out the trip on Monday at 1 p.m. against the University of Puget Sound, with the match set to be played at Lewis & Clark College.
