Kingsmen Rally Past Pacific on the Road

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Cal Lutheran men's tennis team opened its Oregon road trip with a 5-2 victory over Pacific University on Friday morning at the Holce Tennis Courts.

The Kingsmen rebounded after dropping the doubles point, winning five of six singles matches to secure their first victory of 2026.

Pacific seized early momentum by sweeping all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. Trailing heading into singles play, the Purple & Gold responded in a big way.

Raphael Simon put Cal Lu on the board with a hard-fought win at the No. 2 spot, and Toki Adachi followed with a 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 3 to shift the momentum.

The Kingsmen took control from there as Carlo Drewelow claimed the point at No. 5 after winning the first set 6-1 and trailing 0-4 in the second before his opponent retired due to injury. Mateo Sonaglia added a strong 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 6, and Maxence Faniel sealed the team victory with a clutch three-set comeback at No. 4, bouncing back from a first-set loss to win 4-6, 7-6, 10-7.

Cal Lutheran continues its road swing on Sunday with a 2 p.m. matchup at Linfield University.
