RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Cal Lutheran men's golf opened the spring portion of its schedule with a tie for seventh place at the West Coast Classic, hosted by Lewis & Clark College at Victoria Club on February 9 and 10. The Kingsmen finished at +32 as a team, tying George Fox in the two-day event.
Jackson Stitt led the way for the Purple & Gold, finishing in a four-way tie for seventh overall with a two-round total of +3. Stitt posted rounds of 74 (+2) and 73 (+1). He recorded five birdies and an eagle over the two days, highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 18th to cap his final round and secure an even-par 37 on the back nine.
As a team, the Kingsmen posted identical rounds of 304 on both days to finish at +32 on the par-72 course.
Tate Evans finished at +7 for the tournament after rounds of 76 and 75.
Nick Huffman and
Ty Kuroda each carded +11 totals over the two rounds, while
Luke Rimkunas rounded out the scoring at +16.
Competing as an individual,
Tsukasa Katsuki recorded a two-day total of +9, including a 75 (+3) in the opening round.
Cal Lutheran will look to build on its season-opening performance later this month when it hosts SCIAC No. 1 at Olivas Links in Ventura, California, on February 21 and 22.
