Carmen Bufkin has qualified for the 2025 NCAA Women's Singles Championships hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps this upcoming weekend.

This marks the second time Bufkin will compete in these Championships, as she qualified two years ago as a sophomore in 2023.

With a singles record of 15-2 throughout the 2024-25 season, Bufkin will be competing against the top competition from around the country. 32 individuals have been invited to Claremont to battle it out for a national title. See the bracket here.

Bufkin will face Rebecca Suarez of Brandeis University in the Round of 32 on Court 7. Suarez is ranked #29 by the ITA, while Bufkin is one spot behind at #30. Suarez holds a singles record of 12-5 in 2024-25.

Suarez has improved her record over each of the past 3 seasons, but she is 0-4 against SCIAC opponents in her career. All 4 matches came prior to this season.

The only common opponent between Bufkin and Suarez this year was Sara Beckman of UC Santa Cruz. Suarez defeated Beckman 6-3, 6-3 on September 14. Bufkin was beating Beckman 6-4, 2-3 on February 8 when the match was cut short.

If Bufkin wins in the opening round, she will play the winner of #7 Sylvia Mikos of UChicago and Jay Xiao of Johns Hopkins.

The Round of 32 begins at 9:00am on Saturday, May 24. The Round of 16 takes place later that same day, not before 1:00pm.

The Quarterfinals begin at 10:00am on Sunday, May 25.

The Semifinals begin at 10:00am on Monday, May 26.

The Final takes place at 10:00am on Tuesday, May 27.
