Regals Roll Past Oxy with Complete Team Effort

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's tennis delivered a complete team performance on Saturday morning, defeating Occidental 6-1 at the Poulson Tennis Center.

The Regals set the tone early by securing the doubles point behind strong play at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Evelyn Oltmans and Grace Balasian opened with a 6-3 victory at No. 2, before Eva Toplak and Anaya Ayanbadejo clinched the point with a 6-4 win at No. 3.

Carrying a 1-0 advantage into singles, Cal Lu wasted no time building momentum. Toplak and Ayanbadejo each earned dominant straight-set victories at No. 6 and No. 5, respectively, pushing the Regals ahead 3-0.

With the match within reach, Balasian delivered the clincher at No. 4. After dropping a tightly contested first-set tiebreak, she responded with authority, taking the next two sets to secure the overall victory for CLU.

The Regals continued to pile on from there. Anya Rajan battled through a competitive three-set match at No. 2 to come out on top, while Oltmans capped the day with a comeback win at No. 3, rallying after a first-set loss to complete the 6-1 result.

Cal Lutheran returns to action on Saturday, April 18, traveling to Whittier for a 2 p.m. conference matchup.
