CLAREMONT, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's tennis ran into a tough test on Friday afternoon, falling 7-0 to No. 21 Pomona-Pitzer on the road.
The Regals (10-4, 3-3 SCIAC) were unable to find early momentum, as the Sagehens swept the doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead.
Kylee Limpias and
Anya Rajan faced a strong pairing at the top spot, while
Evelyn Oltmans and
Grace Balasian, along with the duo of
Eva Toplak and
Anaya Ayanbadejo, each battled but came up short as Pomona secured the early advantage.
In singles, Cal Lu fought to respond but was met with consistent pressure across the lineup. Limpias and Rajan each competed at the top two positions but fell in straight sets, while Balasian, Ayanbadejo, and Toplak also dropped their matches in two.
Oltmans delivered the most competitive showing of the day at No. 3, opening with a strong 6-4 first-set win before her opponent responded to take the next two sets. Despite the effort, the Regals were unable to convert any points, as Pomona completed the sweep.
