WHITTIER, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's tennis left no doubt on Saturday afternoon, delivering a dominant 7-0 sweep over Whittier on the road.
The Regals (10-3, 3-2 SCIAC) wasted no time asserting control, claiming the doubles point with authority.
Anaya Ayanbadejo and
Jannah Houwari set the tone with a flawless 6-0 win at No. 3, followed by a 6-3 victory from
Evelyn Oltmans and
Grace Balasian at No. 2. Clinching the doubles sweep,
Kylee Limpias and
Anya Rajan battled to a 7-5 win at the top spot.
Holding a 1-0 lead, Cal Lu carried that momentum straight into singles and never let up.
The Regals rolled through all six singles matches in straight sets, overwhelming the Poets across the board.
Kloe Cotta was first off the court with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6, sparking a string of dominant finishes. Balasian, Ayanbadejo, and Oltmans each followed with decisive victories, all surrendering little to no games to extend the lead.
With the match already secured, Rajan added another point at No. 2 with a strong 6-1, 7-5 performance, while Limpias capped the sweep in style at No. 1, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 win.
The Regals return to action on Friday, April 24, traveling to take on No. 20 Pomona-Pitzer at 3 p.m. in another key SCIAC matchup.
