PASADENA, Calif. – Cal Lutheran men's tennis played its final match of the 2025 season on Saturday, falling to Caltech 5-2. In his final match as a member of the Kingsmen, senior
Loup Sudre was able to secure a victory.
Caltech entered the match ranked in the top 30 nationally, presenting another stiff test for the Kingsmen in SCIAC play.

Raphael Simon lost 6-4. In their final match as a pairing, seniors
Ethan Sherwood/Sudre dropped the set 6-3 in the #1 spot. In an intense battle out of the #3 spot,

Andy Ai went to a lengthy tiebreak, eventually falling 7(12)-6(10) in a 22-point game. The Beavers would enter the singles matches up 1-0.
In the #4 spot, Ai lost 6-2, 6-1. He finishes his 2025 senior season with a singles record of 7-9.
Drewelow competed out of the #5 spot, dropping his match 6-1, 6-1. In a sophomore season broken up by injuries, he finishes the spring with a 5-4 singles record.
Facing the #7-ranked player in the West Region, Sherwood was defeated 6-2, 6-2 in the #1 spot. He finishes an impressive career at Cal Lutheran with a 7-8 singles record in 2025, often battling the best talent in the country.
With Caltech clinching the match, some of the remaining singles matches went to a 10-point third-set tiebreak format.
In the #6 spot,
Frederick Otto claimed the first set before dropping the second. He was unable to come out on top during the tiebreak, eventually falling 2-6, 6-3, [10-4]. Otto ends his sophomore season with a singles record of 6-8 in 2025.
Sudre and his opponent in the #3 spot decided to play the match out in a full third set, giving Sudre a chance to showcase his late-match ability in a 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 victory. He ends his career as a member of the Kingsmen with a nice win over a good opponent, bringing his spring singles record to 6-9.
The duo of Sherwood/Sudre played very well in 2025, climbing the regional rankings all season behind a 9-6 record.
Facing the #13-ranked player in the West Region in the #2 spot, Simon played an outstanding match en route to a 6-4, 4-6, [10-8] nail-biting victory. He ends his sophomore season with a huge win, lifting him over .500 in singles matches in 2025 at 8-7.
The Kingsmen finish the season 6-10 overall and 2-5 in the SCIAC, good for seventh-place in conference.
