CLAREMONT, Calif. – Cal Lutheran men's and women's track and field competed at the Pomona-Pitzer Invite on Saturday, bringing home several personal bests, a CLU top-five all-time mark, and six total heat wins.
First-year Kingsman
Aidan Crawford led the way in multiple events, notching a personal best in the 200m with a time of 22.88 to place 32nd. He also impressed in the long jump, earning tenth-place with a PR mark of 6.65m. He added an eighth-place finish in the triple jump (12.94m) and a 47th-place finish in the 100m (11.66) to round out his afternoon.
Darrin Parham put together a solid all-around meet, placing fifth in the triple jump with a PR of 13.31m, a mark that now ranks him sixth in the SCIAC. He also posted a personal best in the long jump at 6.53m, finishing 15th.
In the high jump,
Drew Nees cleared 1.90m to take home fifth, while
Camden Hyde joined Crawford and Parham in the long jump with a 12th-place finish (6.58m).
Sophomore sprinter
Brady Karsten competed in the 800m, clocking in at 2:01.84, and
Wyatt Nowak showed consistency across the throws with appearances in the shot put (12.26m), discus (34.41m), and hammer (36.14m).
For the Regals,
Summer Gelman delivered the performance of the meet, finishing ninth in the 1500m with a six-second PR of 4:37.07. Her time is now fifth all-time at Cal Lutheran and ranks her second in the SCIAC this season.
First-year sprinter
Gracie Gervacio had a strong double, placing 20th in the 100m (12.77) and 33rd in the 200m (26.41), while
Jodie Oparanaku ran a personal best of 16.12 in the 100m hurdles to take 13th overall.
In the jumps,
Niani Jones turned in two top-20 performances, finishing eighth in the triple jump with 10.92m and 18th in the long jump with 5.11m.
Taylor Dominguez cleared 3.05m in the pole vault to finish 16th, while
Cheyanne Rodriguez competed in both the shot put (9.06m) and hammer (38.25m).
Desiree Hernandez placed 20th in the discus with a mark of 32.39m.
Cal Lutheran returns to action this week as the teams continue their preparation for the SCIAC Championships. The Kingsmen and Regals will next compete in the Bryan Clay Invite and the La Verne Qualifier between Wednesday, April 16 and Friday April 18.
