EAGLE ROCK, Calif. – Cal Lutheran men's and women's track and field had an impressive showing at the Oxy Distance Carnival/Spring Break Classic on Saturday, highlighted by a number of bests and a program all-time mark.
For the Kingsmen, three distance runners had personal records in the 1500m.
Diego Romero and
Vincent May recorded lifetime bests of 4:39.78 and 4:51.12 respectively, while
Nicholas Moore clocked a season-best time of 4:14.72. In the 5k, both
Sebastian Sawyer (16:03.24) and
Logan Bury (16:07.57) set season PRs.
In the jumps,
Drew Nees placed fourth in the high jump with 1.82m, while
Darrin Parham took sixth in the triple jump with 12.65m and 12th in the long jump with 5.94m.
Summer Gelman made history in the 5k for the Regals, finishing 17th with a time of 17:46.41 to put herself at second on the CLU all-time list.
Fatima Cervantes and
Jennyfer Hernandez Rosas both recorded lifetime personal bests in their events, as Cervantes crossed the finish line at 13.65 in the 100m, and Hernandez Rosas ran a 1:03.26 in the 400m.
In the field events,
Taylor Dominguez secured a fourth-place finish in the high jump with 1.52m and a fifth-place finish in the pole vault with 3.05m.
Cheyanne Rodriguez placed in the top five of two throwing events, finishing fourth in the javelin with 29.71m and fifth in the discus with 34.29m.
Next up, the Kingsmen and Regals will compete at the Westmont Classic on March 22 at 10:30 AM.
